KLM Projekt Expands Service Portfolio with Large-Scale Utility Network Projects in Tartu and Loksa Municipalities

KLM Projekt OÜ has reached a new milestone and now offers water and sewerage (W&S) design as a standalone service. Recently, we completed two extensive utility projects: a 6 km main pipeline in Tartu Municipality and a comprehensive utility network solution for six apartment buildings in Loksa Municipality.

As an established engineering firm, we have historically provided W&S solutions primarily as a part of road and infrastructure design projects. Since late 2024, we offer the design of water and sewerage networks as an independent service – ranging from external utility solutions for industrial buildings to inter-settlement pipelines and complete solutions for new residential quarters.

Vahi-Erala W&S Project – 6 km of Water and Sewerage Pipelines

The project completed for AS Emajõe Veevärk in Tartu Municipality is a good example of our team’s capability to design large-scale pipeline connections. The project covers the section between Vahi small town and Erala village, running parallel to the Jõgeva highway.

Significant Volume: The length of the planned main pipeline is approximately 6 kilometres, addressing the water and sewerage needs of both settlements.
Environmentally Friendly Construction: Both the potable water and wastewater pressure pipelines are designed to be installed using horizontal directional drilling (HDD), which minimizes environmental impact and accelerates construction.
Safety: Eight underground hydrants were designed along the route to ensure firewater supply.

We are pleased that construction is set to begin this year, improving the region’s security of supply in the near future.

Loksa Residential Development – Comprehensive Utility Network Solution

Another significant project was completed for Architecture Bureau AB Korrus, involving the design of external utility networks for six planned apartment buildings in Loksa Municipality (Nooruse and Rohuaia St). In this project, we designed district heating supply in addition to water and sewerage pipelines.

Water Supply and Ring Network: We designed a new domestic water supply system to be connected to the existing network owned by OÜ Loksa Haljastus.
Sewerage and Stormwater: We provided solutions for both wastewater and stormwater drainage up to the connection points. To ensure environmental sustainability, an oil-grit separator and a sampling manhole were included in the system.
Smart Construction Planning: For maximum efficiency, the pipelines are planned to be installed in a shared trench, saving time and costs during the construction phase.
Heating Supply: In addition to W&S, KLM Projekt also designed the external heating supply, ensuring the necessary thermal energy connection for the new apartment buildings.
