KLM Projekt is designing roundabouts across Estonia
During the last 1,5 years KLM Projekt has designed several roundabouts across Estonia. This has enabled us to gain a good experience in designing roundabouts of different sizes.
Why are roundabouts good? The main reason is safety – traffic will naturally move slower through a roundabout than it would through a standard intersection. Therefore circular intersection designs are a good choice in residential developments, in rural areas and for large roadway systems with increased traffic loads.
KLM Project has designed the following roundabouts:
- Roundabout between Pikaliiva street and Sõudebaasi road in Tallinn, Haabersti residential area;
- Roundabout between Rukki and Pähklimäe road in Rae Municipality, Lehmja village, near Tallinn-Tartu-Võru-Luhamaa highway;
- Roundabout in Narva, on Äkkeküla road, where a recreational and business area are under development.
All the roundabout design projects are aiming to increase traffic safety for drivers and pedestrians in developing residential, business areas and/ or recreational areas.
